Project Description

AERI 2019

Scientific Meetings

The first Portuguese participation in the Archival Education and Research Institute (AERI) takes place at Liverpool, which is the first one outside the USA.

This yearly event is one of the most prestigious meetings for junior and senior researchers, archivists and teachers to meet and discuss the developments of their fields. In order to participate it was necessary to submit qualified proposals, ultimately chosen by their scientific merit to match the highest demands of this community of specialists.

Besides the opportunity to participate and exchange experiences, alongside professionals and scholars from different countries and institutions, the Portuguese committee organizes the workshop “Family Archives, Community Archives: History, Archival Science, Anthropology”.

This methodological workshop will facilitate all participants the opportunity to know recent developments on archives’s history and theory, with a mixture of research presentation, learning and debating experiences.

The newly VINCULUM project will be presented by the ERC grantee Maria de Lurdes Rosa, whom is leading the group. Alongside her there will be a team of 12 in total, composed by Post-doc researchers, Ph.D. and M.A. students, supported by the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA University Lisbon, and its research centres, the Institute for Medieval Studies and the Institute of Contemporary History (trough the group Memórias para Todos), and also CEPESE – Centro de Estudos da População, Economia e Sociedade, and Universidad de La Laguna.
